As part of its mission to “gather and synthesis published information,” the Home Improvement Research Institute commissioned the 2021 edition of this Reference Guide on the home improvement market. The purpose of this publication is to provide the Institute’s member firms, the financial community and the home improvement industry itself, a single-source reference book that provides historical demographic and other trends related to the home improvement market.
The publication is comprised of many sections, each provide historical statistics, as available, on the consumer and professional market. Specifically, these sections include: Population, Employment, Income, Consumer Expenditures, Characteristics of New One-Family Houses Completed and Housing Trends. Further, selected summaries of HIRI studies are provided.
