Reference Guide for the U.S. Home Improvement Market

As part of its mis­sion to ​“gath­er and syn­the­size pub­lished infor­ma­tion,” the Home Improve­ment Research Insti­tute com­mis­sioned the 2023 edi­tion of this Ref­er­ence Guide on the home improve­ment mar­ket. The pur­pose of this pub­li­ca­tion is to pro­vide the Institute’s mem­ber firms, the finan­cial com­mu­ni­ty and the home improve­ment indus­try itself, a sin­gle-source ref­er­ence book that pro­vides his­tor­i­cal demo­graph­ic and oth­er trends relat­ed to the home improve­ment market.

The pub­li­ca­tion is com­prised of many sec­tions, each pro­vide his­tor­i­cal sta­tis­tics, as avail­able, on the con­sumer and pro­fes­sion­al mar­ket. Specif­i­cal­ly, these sec­tions include: Pop­u­la­tion, Employ­ment, Income, Con­sumer Expen­di­tures, Char­ac­ter­is­tics of New One-Fam­i­ly Hous­es Com­plet­ed and Hous­ing Trends. Fur­ther, select­ed sum­maries of HIRI stud­ies are provided.
