A recent survey completed by Chase Mortgage Banking suggests that “DIY” is a term not only associated with home improvement but home buying. Home buyers are becoming more independent when searching for a home with 68% of Americans doing their home search on their own through a computer or mobile device.
The survey also showed that 3 in 4 home buyers do not plan on staying in their homes long-term. According to Chase, the ‘always-on’ mentality brought on by technology has also brought on the ‘Fear of Missing Out’ attitude and suggests today’s consumers are always searching for the next best thing.
Consumers are also optimistic about the value of their home, with 66% expecting their home value to increase over the next five years and almost 40% have used or are planning on using a Home Equity Line of Credit towards home improvements.
