According to a recent survey conducted by Coldwell Banker using Harris Poll “Quick Query” omnibus product, close to half (45%) of the 4,065 US adults over 18 years of age said they either own smart home technology or plan to invest in it in 2016.
One-quarter of survey respondents said they currently own smart home technology with Millennials (18-34) owning the largest share, at 44%, followed by Gen Xers (35-54; 33%) and those aged 55 and older (24%).
Respondents consider a home “smart” if it contains at least here categories of smart products and top choices were locks and alarm systems, thermostats and fans, light bulbs and lighting systems and safety products.
